A Slew of New Spirits
We are happy to add a few new spirits to our lineup.
First up is Ballast Point (yes, they now have a distillery!) Old Grove Gin:
Old grove Gin embodies the best of the London Dry style, with an emphasis on juniper of course. With subtle hints of rose and coriander, all extracted by alcohol vapor as it rises up the stills column carrying the essence of the botanicals. Delicious on the rocks and delightful mixed in a gin and tonic with a lime.
Next is Ballast Point Three Sheets Rum:
Three Sheets Rum is made by fermenting organic evaporated cane sugar, which is best known as raw unrefined sugar. It is fermented by our proprietary yeast strain and distilled through our custom built hybrid pot/column still. We will offer both an aged and unaged clear rum, each having their own signature flavors. By using raw sugar, we have obtained a rum of great distinction with subtle sweet flavors and no we do not add any flavoring to our rum! The aged rum spends its life in a virgin, heavily charred American oak barrel, much like the fine Bourbons of Kentucky.
We also picked up some fine Whiskies from High West. The first being their Bourye:
David Perkins at the High West Distillery in Park City, Utah is at it again. He got his hands on some 12 year old straight rye whiskey (95% rye) and 10 year old straight bourbon whiskey (15% rye) and blended them together to make one whiskey. He’s calling it “Bourye” (combining the words “bourbon” and “rye”, in case you didn’t get that). It’s being bottled at 46%.
High West Rendezvous:
With an unusual make-up of old and young whiskies and very high rye content, Rendezvous Rye has an incredible flavor profile that earned it Malt Advocates “Top 10 Whiskey of 2008” and what John Hansell, Malt Advocate Editor, calls “Great Price, compared to other premium rye whiskies.”
It also received a few accolades:
Malt Advocate rating of 95
2008 San Francisco Spirits Competition gave it Double Gold
Jim Murray’s Whiskey Bible gave it 93 points
Last but definitely not least, we finally (i can’t emphasize finally enough) picked up one bottle of Pappy Van Winkle’s 20 Year Old Family Reserve….yummm:
Beautiful copper color with an olive cast. Lavish aromas of caramelized pecans, chocolate fudge, and rich baking spices. A bold, powerful entry leads to a dryish full body of intense dried fruits, buttery praline, vibrant baking spices. Finishes with a seemingly endless and evolving cascade that introduces notes of cigar box, sweet tobacco, leather, dried tangerine, and so on… In short, a monumental bourbon.
Beverage Tasting Institute RATING: 99 points (Superlative)
As always, we will gladly serve any of these spirits any way you prefer.
Cheers!

why dont you guys have a schedule to show world cup games!?!? a) you’re a brit pub you should be showing the england game early am on sunday!! b) you’re missing out big time on an opportunity… people line up 2 hours early down at shakespeares in old town!
to lolly : Churchill’s has the schedule you are asking for, just look more carefully.
Very disappointed – on the strength of the feature in N.C. Times drove all the way from Fallbrook to San Marcos to watch the Germany/Argentina game. Several people were there waiting but you weren’t open. Had breakfast and came back – still weren’t open. That’s what I call false representation. Shame!
You ought to add some New English Brewing Co. to your lineup!
Have your say:
